The Planning Division has prepared design guidelines for outdoor dining to ensure quality outdoor seating areas, the appropriate use of the public sidewalks for outdoor dining and safety for pedestrians in Salt Lake City.
This project also introduces a pilot parklet program managed by the Transportation Division. A parklet is a small urban park, often created by replacing several under-utilized parking spots with a patio, planters, trees, benches, café tables with chairs, fountain(s), artwork, sculptures and/or bicycle parking. In July of 2012 the Planning Division began working on a rewrite of Salt Lake City Code sections relating to recognized community based organizations. To manage the project the Planning Division developed a project specific web site which chronicle the progress of the petition http://cboslc.com/.
The ordinance, adopted October 2, 2013, continues to respect and recognize the existing Community Councils, and opens the door for new groups to become recognized by The City. On January 8, 2013 the City Council adopted revisions to the City’s code relating to home occupations. Ordinance No.3 of 2013 streamlines the process for citizens to obtain a business license, provides clearer standards for operation and reduces the associated fees. Continue reading
