Planning Commission Public Hearing on West Salt Lake Master Plan and 9-Line Corridor Plan

On February 12, 2014 the Planning Commission went out into the community to hold their public hearing. There are two major plans under development for the West Salt Lake Master Plan area. First the rewrite of the West Salt Lake Master Plan and second the 9-Line Corridor Plan. In order to increase participation and ensure that community voices are heard the Planning Commission held their public hearing at the Pioneer Police Precinct. Over 100 community members attended the hearing and had a chance to speak. The Planning Commission closed the public hearing on the 9-Line and will make its recommendation at an upcoming meeting.  The Planning Commission tabled the West Salt Lake Master Plan, leaving the public hearing open to additional comments at an upcoming meeting.

Recognized Community Organizations

Public Input Timeline Graphic Portrait3In July of 2012 the Planning Division began working on a rewrite of Salt Lake City Code sections relating to recognized community based organizations. To manage the project the Planning Division developed a project specific web site which chronicle the progress of the petition http://cboslc.com/.

The ordinance, adopted October 2, 2013, continues to respect and recognize the existing Community Councils, and opens the door for new groups to become recognized by The City.   Additionally, the new ordinance clearly defines the expectations of The City and Recognized Community Based Organizations.
