Salt Lake City Council Revises Regulations Regarding Alcohol Establishments

After extensive public input and debate, on September 18, 2012, the Salt Lake City Council adopted changes to update alcohol regulations in the City.  The action ensures that the new alcoholregulations in the City are no more restrictive than required by State Law. Salt Lake City Council Adopts Community Preservation Plan

On October 23, 2012 the Salt Lake City Council adopted the Community Preservation Plan.
The Plan is the City’s first effort to think comprehensively about the role historic preservation and community character preservation play throughout all of Salt Lake City and what other tools may be available to preserve and stabilize neighborhood character other than historic preservation. The purpose of the Salt Lake City Community Preservation Plan is to address the important goals of historic preservation and community character preservation to ensure the continued preservation of the City’s neighborhoods and historic structures. Salt Lake City Council Adopts Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance

On September 18, 2012 the Salt Lake City Council passed the Accessory Dwelling Units ordinance. Many people know Accessory Dwelling Units as “mother in law apartments” or a unit that is on a property along with a single family home.  The decision to approve the ordinance followed almost three years of extensive public comment, numerous public meetings, and untold hours of work by City staff, consultants, and community volunteers. To those individuals who participated in the legislative process to create the ordinance, thank you for your comments, concerns, and suggestions.
